Allergy Symptom
Having allergies can be
uncomfortable and affect your daily activities as well as interrupt
your sleeping habits. How do you know if you are suffering from
an allergy symptom rather than a cold or the flu?
Most allergy symptoms affect the nose, ears, eyes, and throat. Allergy
symptoms can be very similar including runny nose, watery and itchy
eyes, an itchy nose, nausea, cramps, vomiting, and diarrhea. One way to
tell the difference is an allergy symptom is
often reoccurring. Much more often than the average person would get
the flu or a cold.
While those are the more common allergy symptoms and the ones most of
us are familiar with, you may have an allergy symptom that you may not
even associate with an allergy. Asthma can be caused by allergens, dark
circles under the eyes, coughing, eczema, headaches, muscle and joint
pain, ringing in the ears, and a lack of energy can all be the result
of an allergy.
If you think you may have an allergy symptom, try keeping a diary to
track the occurrences. Make sure you date the entries as this is a good
way to find out if you have seasonal allergies. and include the
location you were at, the symptoms you experienced, how long they
lasted, and the severity of your allergy symptoms. It is also a good
idea to document everything you ate that day because food allergies
many be the culprit. Document who was around you at the time you began
experiencing the allergy symptoms including any animals. This
information will be helpful for a doctor or specialist to review and
determine the cause of your allergy symptoms.
Since many allergy symptoms can be mistaken for something else, it is
very important to contact a doctor or specialist to find out the cause
of your allergy symptom. It is very likely they are due to allergens
but they can be a sign of something else. To be sure, allergy tests
will be conducted. These tests will not only confirm that you do suffer
from allergy symptoms but help to identify what your allergens are.
This is an important step to understanding your allergy symptoms as
well as getting them under control.
Once you and your doctor have discusses your allergy causes and your
allergy symptom you can do your part and remove those allergens from
your environment as much as possible. While it isn’t possible to
remove all allergens, you can eliminate your exposure to many factors.
This will require adjusting your lifestyle and possibly your diet. I
may also change how you run your home or office. While these changes
may be frustrating it is much easier than continuing to function while
dealing with your allergy symptoms.
For those allergens that you can help but be exposed to, your doctor
can discuss treatment options including shots, over the counter
medications, and prescription drugs to offer you relieve from your
allergy symptom or symptoms. Some allergy medications come with side
effects that get better with time. If not, you will want to consult
with your doctor about switching medications.
